Meet the Boat
Our 24-foot Privateer combines the proven craftsmanship of a classic 1983 hull with a complete refit and modern outfitting completed in 2021. Privateer boats are well known along the Carolina coast for their rugged construction, dependable ride, and ability to handle the varied conditions of our local waters.
Designed with adventure in mind, the boat offers an open, spacious layout with plenty of room for fishing, sightseeing, shelling, and family fun. Its elevated tower provides an excellent vantage point for spotting fish and taking in the coastal scenery, while the uncluttered deck allows guests to move around comfortably.
From chasing fish to exploring quiet shorelines, this boat gives us a versatile and dependable platform for sharing the best of the Outer Banks. It is a classic Carolina hull, thoughtfully updated for today’s adventures—and an important part of every Retriever Sharters experience.
Meet the Captain
Captain Jeffrey Del Monte is a lifelong Hatteras Island waterman with deep family roots in the Outer Banks. His family has lived on the island for generations, where commercial and recreational fishing have long been a way of life. Growing up around the waters of Hatteras, Jeffrey developed an intimate knowledge of the ocean, sound, inlets, and local fisheries.
As captain of Retriever Charters, Jeffrey specializes in relaxed, family-friendly trips tailored to each group. Whether guests are fishing for red drum, bluefish, Spanish mackerel, flounder, trout, or cobia—or exploring secluded islands, clamming, and shelling—he enjoys sharing the places and traditions that make Hatteras special.
Jeffrey also brings more than two decades of fire-service experience to the boat. He serves as Deputy Chief of the Duck Fire Department and continues to volunteer as Deputy Chief in Buxton. Known for his patience, local knowledge, and commitment to safety, Jeffrey works hard to make every trip comfortable, memorable, and fun for anglers of all ages and experience levels.
